Welcome to Mrs. V’s Music Room blog! My name is Brittany and I am a music teacher. I believe that as we learn together and from each other, we will pioneer the way for many great things to come. This is a space where I will compile my teaching experiences as a music educator.
Mrs. V’s Experiences
Who Am I?
As I mentioned, I am a music teacher. I am married and have two doggos, Hudson and Halo. I love to travel! My favorite destinations were in Iceland and Peru! I like to attend cultural events that have an artistic performance, whether it is a concert or a parade. I do this so I can bring back instrument souvenirs such as panpipes from Peru and a kalimba from Hawaii. Then I can bring these souvenirs in for show and tell for my students, especially when we talk about instrument families!
My Teaching Experiences
Why Am I in a Music room?
I was trained as a high school band teacher. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Education. I’ve taught all sorts of subjects in many different places. From teaching Music Theater/Performance in Thailand to Career Studies and Indigenous Perspectives in a small farm town in Southern Manitoba. I have teaching experience that also includes private voice/piano lessons, band tutoring, and 15 years of swimming lessons.
About My Current School
I currently teach music to a K-3 school in a slightly larger farm town. It is a French Immersion School and has on average 300 students. This year will be my 3rd consecutive year at this school.
As Music Educator…
My Musical Teaching Experience
I absolutely love my school and the community. I can’t wait to develop a long-term program! A part of my teaching experiences as a music educator is the resources I create. You can check them out on my Teachers-Pay-Teachers store, Mrs. V’s Music Room. I’m looking forward to sharing tips and tricks with you along the way.
