I mentioned in my last post that I had another grade added to my teaching assignment this year. I’ve had these students before so they all know the deal with my conductor of the day. If you don’t know what that means, check out this post! TLDR: My conductor is the special helper for the class and then when our time is finishing, they get to explore on my electric organ. I wanted to continue this in my grade 4 room, but I am not going to lug that instrument back in forth. So an easy alternative: the accordion! Now I’ll be honest, I know nothing about accordions except they have a little keyboard and you need to squeeze something to make noise. Despite my lack of knowledge and experience on this unique instrument, I have two in my possession. Might as well make use of it! I know there may be a handful of students who will have experience within their own culture, but I suspect many do not. I can’t wait to hear all of the giggles when we do a lesson on accordions. Today was a snow day. Oddly enough, our first one of the year. So I will be learning how to hold an accordion! Stay safe!
