October in Canada has so many holidays. What should you pick? Halloween? Thanksgiving? Farmers Day? Harvest Festival? What about the season? Fall is goregous and full of potential for interactive music games! Here is over two weeks of pumpkin-themed resources for your music room.
1.) Interactive Play-a-longs
There are so many types of play-a-longs- rhythmic, melodic, instrumental, body percussion, movement, etc. Find FREE fall-themed parody play-a-longs on this Youtube channel. Check this one out for steady beat. Look at this one for a rhythmic play along!
2.) Fall Rhythm Builders
These rhythms hint at Halloween even though they don’t specifically allude to it. Use these rhythms for centers or assessments for first term reports! Have students cut and compose rhythms and then play individually or in groups.
3.) Pumpkin Unit
Do you more ideas for your sub? This pumpkin-themed unit has songs and chants with rhythm/lyric slides, paper matching puzzles, a scavenger hunt, pumpkin math with matching posters, and color-by-rhythms! This package has more than two weeks worth of resources.
