How was your October? Mine was pretty nuts. Needless to say, it was Pumpkin Spiced-everything up in here. My students tried some new things, my TPT is growing, and Christmas is fast approaching, YIKES! There are a lot of highlights for October, I don’t know it I can write about all of them.
October Highlights
I have a few things that I talk about in this video here. My favorite October highlight is probably “Pass the Pumpkin” this year. How do you use this song in your classroom?
The Pumpkin Project
I am discovering that in the setting that I am in, there is a lack of accessible resources for my situation so I developed an entire music unit only using pumpkins. You can find that here, in my TPT store. It has many different styles of activities from puzzles, scavenger hunts and coloring to lyric slides and play alongs. There are a variety of digital and printable activities with different levels of difficulty, depending on your curriculum. The activities encompass melody, rhythm, time signature, beat work, ensemble play, and other forms of collaboration. Absolutely everything in it is related to pumpkins. Choose what you need and it’s in your Google Drive! Grab your own copy!
I think my favorite resource is the parody of “Spice, Spice, Baby” by Scott Mead. It definitely made me chuckle so I knew I had to incorporate it! He also has another song called “It’s Beginning to Smell A Lot Like Pumpkin”. I bet you can guess the melody!
Take a look! This blog post has more information about the Pumpkin resources. Happy reading!
